Innovative spine surgery is now a reality in Lleida thanks to Avantmèdic. This new technique represents a great advance in the treatment of patients who have lumbar pathology such as a herniated disc or canal stenosis.
Doctors Christian Abel Schinder and Augusto Covaro, from the Avantmèdic Traumatology and Orthopedic Surgery medical team, apply this technique that respects the muscles and reduces recovery and possible infections. Endoscopic spine surgery is done with two small one-centimeter incisions. In this way, bleeding and postoperative pain are attenuated, and the recovery of the patient is accelerated, who is admitted to the hospital and discharged the same day, even with less analgesia than that taken with the previous pathology. Generally, the patient can get up and start moving a few hours after the intervention.
“Thanks to the advancement of technology, we now have new materials and techniques with which we can help our patients more safely and effectively, taking spine surgery to the highest level,” say the doctors.
Surgical Area with Hospital Care (AQUAH)
Doctors Covaro and Schinder have recently operated on the first patient with this new technique in the Surgical Area with Hospital Care (AQUAH) of Avantmèdic. This area has two state-of-the-art operating rooms.
